Replit · hosted app development platform
Replit Agent
Replit Agent is a build-and-deploy environment for someone who wants to make an app without first preparing a local development setup. Describe a small application, review the plan and iterate in the project editor before deliberately publishing. Browser and mobile access let the project be approached through different interfaces. Agent modes change capability and cost, while agent execution and hosting have their own plan or usage implications. A visible preview is a starting point for checking behavior, not evidence that authentication, data access or production operation is ready. For a first exercise, use synthetic records and ask for one reviewable application flow. An established codebase with its own engineering environment may instead favor an editor or repository agent.

When it fits
Useful for
- Building a small app in a hosted development environment
- Iterating on an app from browser or mobile access before a deliberate publishing decision
Limits to consider
- Treating a working preview as a completed authentication and data-access review
- Adding production credentials or customer records to an initial generated-app exercise
Capabilities and platforms
- Agent turns an app description into an implementation for review
- Project editing and previews support iterative development
- A hosted publishing workflow is available, with separate execution and hosting cost considerations
Where it runs
- Web browser
- Mobile
Access and setup
Replit account with access to the chosen mode; agent execution and hosted deployment follow applicable plan and usage terms.

- Describe a small app with synthetic data and review the plan before proceeding with implementation.
- Exercise the generated flow in the project editor, inspect authentication and data access, and decide separately whether to publish.
Proposed exercise · not hands-on tested
Build a synthetic equipment checkout app
Input
Invented equipment records and the required borrow/return rules, with no real user data.
- Ask for a plan showing the record fields and borrow/return flow.
- Generate the small app and try normal, repeated and invalid operations using synthetic records.
- Inspect data access and error handling, then record remaining defects before considering publication.
Artifact to inspect
A reviewable prototype and a list of behavior and access findings.
What to verify
Check that repeated requests do not create inconsistent records and that the app enforces the stated borrowing rules; publication is a separate decision.
Data handling and permissions
Before supplying internal code or records to Replit, check the current account terms, project visibility and agent settings. These determine the handling to assess for the specific project; the presence of an agent or hosting feature alone supplies no universal retention or model-training promise. Agent execution, hosted application data and any connected service introduce distinct places where information can be processed or remain stored. Keep the proposed exercise synthetic and inspect generated authentication and data access before adding real users. A preview that works for its creator does not establish what another account can read or change. Use the account and connected-service terms to assess the actual deployment, rather than relying on a generated app’s appearance.
