Step 1
Draft the procedure
Start with a blank runbook or an illustrative example. Fill in service-specific access, scope, mitigation and escalation.
Before moving on: Replace example details and mark the draft as practice data while rehearsing.
Save a file draft so you can reopen and revise it during the exercise.
Step 2
Rehearse the response
Use a practice scenario to record observations and the sequence of response actions.
Before moving on: Label the exercise as practice. Do not treat its timings as production incident measurements.
Review the report and use Prepare next draft to carry exercise findings into the action tracker.
Step 3
Assign the readiness gaps
Capture missing access, unclear steps and unverified recovery checks as owned actions.
Before moving on: Give each gap an owner and a verification plan, then update the runbook when the work is reviewed.
