Midjourney generates images for exploring a visual idea, then provides variations and editing tools to develop a chosen direction. Give it a subject, composition, lighting and style brief; compare the results on those terms before refining one. This fits illustration concepts, covers and moodboards where the initial question is what the image should feel like. It can also animate a starting image into video. The web and Discord interfaces are separate from the model version, and reference or editing instructions must match the selected version. Keep exact typography and page layout editable in a design application. Review visibility settings before using a confidential reference, because creations are public by default.

Three visual directions for a synthetic reliability workshop

Input

A synthetic brief for a workshop cover: a mechanical balance holding uneven abstract blocks, without people, logos, charts or text; one fixed landscape crop.

  1. Choose a model version and fixed landscape aspect ratio in the Imagine bar. Request three treatments of the same balance-and-blocks brief, changing the visual style while keeping the subject and crop consistent.
  2. Compare the concepts for whether the mechanical balance and uneven blocks actually communicate the intended idea. Pick one candidate for variations or the editing controls supported by that version.
  3. Refine the candidate and inspect the final crop. Save the prompt, version and reference information with the image, then add the workshop title in a layout tool as editable text.

What to verify

Check the balance's structure, repeated shapes, accidental lettering and margins. Select for communication as well as appearance: an attractive image that loses the balance-and-blocks relationship does not satisfy this brief.

Data handling and permissions

Creations are public by default, including potential website visibility when made in private Discord servers or bot messages. Pro/Mega Stealth controls website visibility but does not hide work posted in shared Discord channels. Midjourney’s terms grant ownership only to the extent permitted by law, subject to third-party rights and other conditions. Companies and employees of companies above US$1 million annual revenue need Pro or Mega to own their assets; upscaling another user’s image does not transfer that creator’s rights. Visibility control is not a no-training or deletion guarantee, and contractual ownership language does not establish copyright protection or clearance for a reference or output.
