Use windows ending together. Overlapping windows must not be added. Low traffic and missing telemetry need separate handling; neither is established by these numbers.

This is a threshold illustration, not a configured alert. Windows must end together and use the same eligible population and SLI. Normalized spend assumes steady traffic; actual remaining rolling budget is not measured here.

How the burn-rate calculation works

Burn rate = observed bad-event fraction ÷ (1 − SLO target). At 99.9%, a 1% bad-event fraction is 10× burn. Over one hour in a 30-day period, the normalized budget spend is about 1.39%. At a constant rate, a full budget lasts 72 hours. This is an approximation when request volume changes, not the measured remaining budget.

Use and review the result

Set a clear service and time window, check source data, then save the worksheet with your evidence. Downloads are editable; browser print can save a PDF. Illustrative examples are not production results.
